Batch‑to‑batch Color Deviation of Colored Polyester Yarn: Easily‑ignored Carrier Compatibility of Polyester Fiber Masterbatch
Release date: [2026/10/12]  Read total of [12] times

Some chemical‑fiber manufacturers face batch‑to‑batch color deviation when producing colored polyester yarn. Even under identical formula and adding ratio, ΔE value exceeds standard between batches. Color difference becomes more obvious after fabric dyeing and setting and leads to large‑batch downgrade. Most factories check color matching and metering feeding system first, yet they frequently overlook compatibility between carrier resin of polyester fiber masterbatch and PET matrix.

Carrier resin wraps pigment inside polyester fiber masterbatch and shall fully melt and blend with PET chips inside extruder. Melt mixing will be insufficient if solubility parameter and melt flow rate of carrier resin mismatch PET matrix. Even if masterbatch shares identical visual color, uneven pigment distribution inside filament occurs and causes visible batch‑to‑batch color difference. Severe incompatibility generates gel particles and brings brittle yarn breakage and bright‑spot defects on fabrics.

Color deviation induced by mismatched carrier does not appear every batch. It occurs intermittently subject to spinning temperature and screw shear intensity, which raises troubleshooting difficulty. Besides shade and heat resistance, purchasers should confirm whether masterbatch carrier fits PET system. General‑purpose injection‑molding masterbatch shall never be adopted for polyester spinning for its poor compatibility and potential spinning risks.

Yantai Langcai Plastic Technology Co.,Ltd. has rich experience in custom chemical‑fiber masterbatch. Its polyester fiber masterbatch applies PET‑compatible carrier system matching rheological property of polyester melt to mitigate color deviation and gel defects triggered by incompatibility. Professional color‑matching team provides custom sampling against customer color swatch and fastness requirements. Pre‑simulated spinning test can be finished in in‑house test base. Anti‑aging, flame‑retardant and other functional masterbatch are available for combined application. Technical team offers tailored solution based on customer chip grade and spinning equipment to stabilize batch quality of colored polyester yarn.

Competition of colored fiber industry turns refined. Visual color check is no longer sufficient for masterbatch selection. Carrier compatibility acts as fundamental guarantee for color consistency of polyester yarn.
