In 2025, China's total foreign trade import and export value will exceed 45 trillion yuan, setting a new historical high. However, the textile industry, as a traditional pillar industry, is presenting a complex picture of "mixed temperatures".

The data shows that there is a significant disparity in the import and export of textile and clothing products: the total export of textiles reached 142.58 billion US dollars, increasing by 0.5% year-on-year; the export of clothing was 151.18 billion US dollars, decreasing by 5.0% year-on-year; the import of textile raw materials was 9.97 billion US dollars, decreasing by 7.9%. This structure reflects the improvement of self-sufficiency in the domestic industrial chain, but the terminal consumption demand is facing pressure.

The market landscape is undergoing a profound restructuring. In traditional markets, exports of textile and clothing to the United States decreased by 10.5%, and exports to ASEAN decreased by 5.5%. Meanwhile, the export share to the countries participating in the "Belt and Road Initiative" has reached 56.5%, and emerging markets such as Africa and Latin America have shown strong growth. What is particularly noteworthy is that the demand for mid-to-high-end textile products in the African market has continued to rise, becoming a new blue ocean for the industry.

Under the overall pressure, the highlights of industrial upgrading have emerged frequently. From January to September in 2025, China's export volume of textile machinery increased by 35.3%. The export volume of equipment such as beam looms and jet looms has increased significantly. Technological innovation has become a breakthrough point: Zhengfeng Machinery's high-speed water-stitching production line achieves environmentally friendly and efficient production; Wuyang Machinery's fully formed warp-knitting machine adapts to extreme environments, and its 15-minute garment production technology has become a "killer app" in the overseas market.

The product structure is also undergoing a transformation towards excellence. The green underwear made from recycled and environmentally friendly fabrics has been recognized by the EU; the silk pajamas that integrate plant dyeing and fragrance technology have won the market with their innovation. In the regional cluster, the export of textile machinery from Quanzhou increased by 41.1% year-on-year, and private enterprises contributed 87.1% of the export volume, demonstrating strong vitality.

Looking ahead, the sluggish growth of global trade will pose challenges, but the deepening of the "Belt and Road Initiative" and the rise of green and intelligent consumption have also pointed out the direction for the industry. China's textile industry is using innovation as its sail and the market as its rudder, exploring new paths for high-quality development in the changing circumstances.
