On the morning of March 16, Shandong Provincial Climate Center held a 2021 Shandong Province spring sowing forecast news briefing, taking into account the previous meteorological conditions, soil moisture, short-term climate prediction results, and meteorological indicators for the suitable initial sowing period of spring sowing crops. It is expected that Shandong will be all in 2021. In most parts of the province, the suitable initial sowing date for cotton is slightly earlier than normal. Since the beginning of winter last year in Shandong, the temperature has been relatively high, and the temperature will return quickly at the end of winter and early spring. It is expected that the temperature from March to May will be slightly higher than usual. The final frost day and the daily average temperature stably pass 12℃ and the first day of 15℃ are earlier than normal. Since the beginning of winter, the province’s average precipitation has been 59.9 mm, 68.1% more than normal (24.2 mm more). Recently, precipitation has mainly concentrated in mid-to-late February and early-March, and the moisture content of farmland in various regions has been significantly improved. In the spring, cold air activities are frequent and the temperature fluctuates greatly. The meteorological department recommends that all localities do a good job of preventing cold damage and sowing in time during the suitable sowing period.
